[StyleKorean Skincare Curation] Two Fall Skincare Routines for Dry, Fine-Line-Prone Skin

Tested by an editor and her mom, one routine each

Hi, this is Chloe again!

In summer, my T-zone usually got oily enough that I was reaching for powder by midday. Now that fall's here, my skin's suddenly tight and dry, and I've started getting small breakouts around my forehead and jawline. If your skin flips like this depending on the season, there’s a name for this skin type in Korea: su-bu-ji, short for oily-yet-dry skin.

It's Not Oily Skin, It's Dehydration.

Here's the part that trips people up. Those breakouts aren't your skin being oily, they're your skin running low on water and overproducing oil to compensate. Which means the routine that worked in summer isn't going to work now. Fall calls for hydration, not the same oil-control routine you were running a month ago.

So today I'm sharing the two routines I curated this week. One's for dehydrated skin just like me, and the other’s for fine lines and dryness, like my mom's skin.

Hydration Routine for Dehydrated Skin

Step 1. iUNIK Beta-Glucan Power Moisture Serum

I picked this one because of beta-glucan, an ingredient I hadn't really used before. Apparently it holds moisture even better than hyaluronic acid, which sounded like it could help lock in hydration for longer, so I gave it a shot.

It's a bit thicker than some other Korean serums I've used, but not enough to bother me. It's also fine for sensitive and acne-prone skin, so if acne has ever been a concern for you, this one's worth trying.

Step 2. PURITO Mighty Bamboo Cream

I'd seen this all over TikTok already. I was looking for a cream that works for dehydrated, acne-prone skin, and landed on this one. What stood out to me is the 10% panthenol. Panthenol (vitamin B5) locks in water and calms irritation, and it's not a cheap ingredient to formulate with. Most creams at this price point list it at 1 to 2%. Seeing 10% here is what convinced me to actually try it.

Step 3. SKIN1004 Madagascar Centella Hyalu-Cica Water-Fit Sun Serum

This one's not a sunscreen, it's a sun serum. Slightly off-topic, but in summer I skip cream entirely and just wear sunscreen. Korean sunscreens basically feel like cream already. On dehydrated skin like mine, layering an actual cream on top of that just makes my makeup slide around.

But it's fall now, and dehydrated skin doesn't just get oily in fall, it gets dry too, so cream is back on the list. Problem is, sunscreen plus cream still means makeup sliding around. So I tried swapping in this sun serum instead of a separate sunscreen step, and it's actually holding up well.

If you're dehydrated like me, layer sun serum, then cream, then makeup. Genuinely one of my better finds this season.

Curated for My Mom (Fine Lines and Dryness)

Cold fall and winter air dries out your face and makes it feel tight, and tight, dry skin is exactly the kind of environment where wrinkles form faster.

Step 1. Dr.Rejuall Advanced PDRN Copper Serum

This one's sold at Korean pharmacies, which is what made my mom trust it enough to try. The absorption was fast. I won't oversell it as some overnight lifting-procedure result, but she said her skin felt less tight in the morning.

Step 2. Centellian24 Madeca Cream Time Reverse Season7

This one's made by a Korean pharmaceutical company. My mom normally layers two or three creams because one alone never feels like enough. This is heavy enough that it could replace all of that on its own. Also, it locks in whatever the serum just filled in.

Step 3. Medicube PDRN Pink Jelly Eye Mask

I picked this one for my mom, but honestly, I've started using it too. Every other eye patch I've tried slides down. This one's edges are thicker, so it actually stays put. It also just looks pretty on, which is a small thing, but it's the reason I want to buy my own pack.
